Why babies hiccup

Hiccups in babies may be caused by non-disease factors (e.g. eating too fast, cold air inhalation, etc.), but they may also be caused by disease factors (e.g. meningitis, diaphragmatic bulge, etc.). 1. Non-disease factors: (1) Eating too fast: newborns who eat too fast will inhale air with them, thus triggering hiccups. (2) Cold air inhalation: When a newborn baby inhales cold air, it may cause spasm of the diaphragm due to cold air stimulation, which may lead to hiccups. 2. Disease factors: (1) meningitis: it is an acute inflammation of the cerebral spinal cord membrane caused by pathogen infection, and children usually have fever, nausea, hiccups and other symptoms. (2) diaphragmatic bulge: it is due to different degrees of paralysis of muscle fibers, underdevelopment or diaphragmatic atrophy, caused by the diaphragm does not rise abnormally, resulting in children with shortness of breath and irregularity, hiccups, difficulty breathing when sucking milk and so on. If the baby has hiccups frequently and is accompanied by other crying phenomena, it is recommended that the parents of the child should take the child to the hospital in time to exclude physiological factors, and then follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
