The method and order of palpation of the abdomen, the patient is placed in a supine position with both hands on both sides of the body and both lower limbs flexed to relax the abdomen and fully reveal the examination site. The examiner stands on the right side of the patient, and the order of examination is generally from the lower left abdomen and counterclockwise, i.e., lower left abdomen, upper left abdomen, upper right abdomen, lower right abdomen, generally starting from the healthy part and finally examining the affected area. The basic examination methods are superficial palpation and deep palpation. Superficial palpation involves the examiner placing the hand flat on the patient’s abdominal wall and applying gentle pressure to feel the tension of the abdominal wall, superficial pressure pain, lumps on the abdominal wall or lumps protruding from the abdomen, and feeling whether the surface of the lumps is smooth and whether there is pulsation. The deep palpation method is to check whether the patient has pressure pain and rebound pain in the abdominal wall and the size of the abdominal mass, the softness and hardness of the texture, whether the surface is smooth, whether the boundary is clear, the mobility of the mass and whether there is tenderness, including sliding palpation, two-handed palpation, deep pressure palpation, sinking palpation, etc.
