The normal range of urine output for newborns is 80 to 400 ml/day. Individual differences exist in specific cases. As a newborn, a baby’s urine output is usually around 60 to 100mL/day. As the child gains weight, the urine volume can reach 250 to 450mL/day at full term, and the urine is colorless or slightly yellowish. Individual variations in urine output of newborns are large, and the amount of milk consumed and the amount of sweating will affect the child’s urine output. Drinking too much water and cold weather can cause your baby to urinate more. If you find that your baby has low urine output, it may be caused by water loss, diarrhea and vomiting. It is recommended that newborn babies with abnormalities such as excessive or low urine output or no urine, go to the hospital for timely examination and active treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
