The phenomenon of low blood pressure and high heart rate in the elderly may be caused by drug factors, ischemic cardiomyopathy or acute pericardial tamponade.
1. Drug factors: If the elderly themselves suffer from hypertension and long-term use of nifedipine and other antihypertensive drugs, resulting in excessive drop in blood pressure. Excessive drop in blood pressure will reflexively cause the heart rate to accelerate, thus the phenomenon of low blood pressure and high heart rate in the elderly.
2. Ischemic cardiomyopathy: The long-term ischemia and hypoxia of the myocardium leads to insufficient blood supply and oxygenation of the myocardium, which in turn affects the contraction and diastolic function of the heart and induces the symptoms of low blood pressure and high heart rate.
3. Acute pericardial tamponade: It is a symptom of acute circulatory failure. Due to surgery or trauma, pericardial effusion and pericardial blood accumulation will occur within a short period of time in an acute pericardial situation, and symptoms such as low blood pressure and high heart rate will also occur.
If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to identify the cause and actively cooperate with doctors for treatment.
