First visit
1. Talk to the doctor and tell him/her what you know about your dental situation and what you most want to fix.
2. The doctor conducts a targeted initial examination based on your specific situation.
3. Take X-rays (regular panoramic lateral radiographs, plus ortho and CT radiographs if necessary), take dental molds, and take photos (digital photos). Wu Feng, Department of Orthodontics, Huizhou Dental Hospital
4. Pay the initial design fee of 200 RMB (including the cost of taking the dental mold, taking digital photos and post-analysis design).
5. Wait for the doctor to measure the dental model and X-ray film, and then design a personalized treatment plan by comprehensive analysis. Due to the large number of patients, the plan is usually determined at the next follow-up visit.
Second visit
1. The doctor will inform you and your family of the results of the measurements and analysis and develop a practical treatment plan. The patient’s main concerns such as treatment time, treatment cost, whether to extract teeth or not, which ones to extract, whether to have double-stage orthodontic treatment, and whether to have surgery will be told to you at this visit.
2. In cases where there are multiple treatment options, the doctor will tell you the pros and cons of each treatment option and you will make your own choice.
3. Both parties agree and sign the informed consent form together.
4. Make an appointment with your doctor for your next visit to have your aligners placed (for patients who need extractions or pre-treatment, you should make a follow-up appointment after the extractions or all teeth have been treated).
Third visit
1. The doctor glues on the aligners (commonly known as braces) and informs the patient of the precautions to be taken.
2. This time, half of the total fee is usually paid (included in the total fee, and the rest of the fee is charged in several installments until it is collected in full).
Subsequent follow-up visits
1. Follow up about once every 4 weeks. You should not be too hasty and give the teeth sufficient time to move so as not to cause root damage; however, you should not go for a long time without a follow-up visit so as not to produce unfavorable tooth movement due to damage to the aligners, and if you do not have a follow-up visit for more than six months, the patient is considered to have automatically abandoned the treatment and the treatment procedure is terminated.
2. During the interval between follow-up appointments, if the patient finds that the orthodontic appliance parts fall off or are damaged, he or she should contact the doctor in a timely manner and schedule a follow-up appointment as soon as possible, as long-term abandonment will affect the treatment progress and may cause dental damage.
End of treatment
1. After treatment is completed and the desired goal is achieved, the treatment can be ended by consensus between the doctor and the patient, the braces can be removed, and a model of the teeth can be made for the retainer.
2. After wearing the retainer, we will explain the precautions to be taken, and we will make regular follow-up visits for observation (usually about six months)
