How long can you live with advanced liver cancer metastasis to the lumbar spine?

The prognosis of patients with advanced liver cancer combined with lumbar metastasis is poor, and the specific survival period varies from person to person, with some studies claiming that the survival time is only 6 to 9 months. Patients with liver cancer combined with lumbar spine metastasis are already in advanced stage, and their conditions are usually more serious, which may be combined with obvious anemia, hypoproteinemia, malignant ascites, progressive decline of liver function, etc. Moreover, there are usually symptoms related to lumbar spine metastasis (bone pain, pathological fracture or even paraplegia); in addition, some of the patients may suffer from spontaneous peritonitis, which may lead to hepatic encephalopathy and so on. Cancer prognosis is generally assessed by survival rate, and the prognosis of liver cancer is related to disease progression (e.g., stage, etc.), therapeutic program, patient’s basic condition and other factors, and the prognosis of advanced liver cancer is generally poor. According to some domestic studies, the 1-year survival rate of advanced liver cancer is only about 20%; the average survival time of patients with liver cancer combined with distant metastasis is only a few months to 1 year; the average survival time of patients combined with bone metastasis is even shorter, 6 to 9 months. It is recommended that patients diagnosed with advanced liver cancer should go to regular hospitals to evaluate their conditions and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to control the disease progression and improve their prognosis.
