Talking about polycystic ovaries

There is an 18-year-old girl, a face in addition to the nose this piece is good, all other bursts of acne, can be said to have reached the “disfigurement” degree. Young girls, if there is hairy, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, small breast development, obesity, we should pay attention. The hairy legs are particularly thick, while menstruation is always delayed, even once every few months. I. What is polycystic ovary syndrome? In normal ovaries, one egg is ovulated a month, but with this disease, no eggs are ovulated. Ultrasound is like the third eye of Erlang Shen, which can see things that are invisible to the naked eye. If you compare the ovarian envelope to the skin of a pomegranate, you can see a bunch of follicles the size of pomegranate seeds underneath the skin (envelope). With so many follicles and so small, these follicles start to shrink when they reach 0.8 cm because there are no dominant follicles, so the patient’s androgen level is high and the patient’s face is full of pimples. This is a good way to get the most out of your life. This is not the face of the problem, but the endocrine problem. The actual fact is that you will be able to find out that something is wrong after you get married, and then look at this disease, it is more difficult to cure. This disease should be treated early and should be taken seriously. If you have polycystic ovary syndrome, the ovaries do not ovulate for a long time, there is no progesterone to suppress estrogen, estrogen lasts too long, it is easy to make the ovarian envelope thicken, breast hyperplasia, endometrial hyperplasia, and other pathologies: acne, obesity, long sweat hair, are just a signal, the red light after a series of problems, pay more attention to it. The most serious problems associated with polycystic ovary syndrome are menstrual disorders and infertility. According to some data, the prevalence rate of women of childbearing age is 6-10%, and two years ago I took a few graduate students to do a survey on the subject of the Department of Education, and the data came out to be 14%, which is quite high. This disease is first menstrual disorders, high androgen, mainly manifested as a face full of acne, but also on the back, there are also acne is not obvious, and then slowly come to menstruation less often, because the follicle does not develop, occasionally development can not be discharged, often make the ovarian envelope thickened, has been easy to go on amenorrhea; also this situation, is occasionally follicle enlargement, because of the ovarian envelope thick discharge can not, had to shrink, so this time If the follicles often shrink when they are a little larger, menstruation will be incomplete, and this is also a common clinical condition; if several follicles increase together and then shrink together, the lining will be thicker, and the consequence of this condition is that the patient will have more menstruation. You can take your basal body temperature to get a general idea of whether you are ovulating or not. The second way is to come for an ultrasound after 14 days of the menstrual cycle, if the follicle size is still only 0.8cm, it means there is a problem. Why does this disease cause infertility? Because it is difficult for follicles to develop in patients with this disease, and even if they do, they cannot ovulate because of the thick ovarian envelope, so of course they cannot get pregnant. In polycystic ovary syndrome, there is no clear statement on the cause of the disease. In my clinic, 6 out of 10 patients have polycystic ovary syndrome. I have been observing carefully and I think it has a lot to do with the patient’s mental stress. The first amenorrhea often occurs around the time of midterm and college entrance exams, followed by several months of non-ovulation, usually for 3 months, and then it becomes difficult to ovulate and the ultrasound shows polycystic ovarian changes. Another important reason is miscarriage. I would like to remind women to avoid abortion and medical abortion as much as possible, because every abortion and medical abortion will have some impact on your overall fertility function, which may cause lifelong infertility if done more than once. The menstrual irregularities after the abortion and the ultrasound examination also showed polycystic changes in the ovaries. There are also other reasons, such as one of my patients who took birth control pills for 5 years in a row and could not conceive when she wanted to have a baby. The key to the treatment of polycystic ovaries is to promote follicular development. As long as the follicles exceed 1.3cm after treatment, the effect will be fast and the course of the disease will be short. One patient who was very fat lost two kilograms of weight every month after taking herbal medicine for normal ovulation. This shows that the key to this disease is ovulation. Once ovulation occurs, all laboratory indicators, acne, hairiness and obesity will slowly return to normal. Western medicine treats this disease with some hormonal drugs. After 2-3 times of ovulation, the pimples on the patient’s face will be gone, which means that the endocrine system is improving and the polycystic ovaries are fundamentally improved. The younger the patient is, the quicker the cure will be as long as she is treated early. The treatment starts with “tonifying the kidneys and invigorating the blood”. By tonifying the kidneys, the development of follicles can be promoted; by invigorating the blood, the kidney tonics can reach the ovaries, making the ovarian envelope thinner and conducive to ovulation. The reason for this is very simple: a piece of peach blossom paper used for making kites will tear apart with a gentle tear, while a piece of vellum wrapped in a book will struggle to tear apart. This is how Chinese medicine gradually adjusts the body’s internal environment through a series of meticulous measures such as “making the ovarian envelope thinner”. Chinese medicine is not conservative, but also with the help of advanced modern medical instruments. For example, ultrasound is often used as a routine examination for patients with amenorrhea. In one patient who had not had her period for 4 months, the follicles were 1.3 cm on ultrasound, and the follicles were promoted with Chinese herbs, resulting in menstruation 10 days after ovulation. As long as the follicles keep growing under ultrasound, even if they only grow 0.1cm every two days (usually follicles grow 0.2cm per day after menstruation and 0.6cm on the day of ovulation), the treatment will be effective. There are also many patients who do not have menstrual periods because the follicles do not come out and become cysts, which can increase in size and break to a certain extent. Even if the cyst does not increase in size in the ovary, it will prevent other follicles from developing, which is also a major aspect of menstrual disorders and infertility. I promptly adjusted the prescription and used Chinese herbal medicine to clear heat and dampness and soften the hardness, which was quite effective. As long as the ultrasound shows that there are still follicles in the ovaries, it means that they are not old, so I use Chinese herbal medicine to promote follicle development, so that the follicles will increase in size and then be discharged, which will delay the shrinkage of the follicles in the ovaries and postpone menopause, thus slowing down aging.
