Symptoms of cerebral palsy in 7-month-old babies may vary according to the degree of the disease and their own conditions. Generally speaking, the clinical manifestations include emotional and behavioral abnormalities, delayed motor development and delayed language development. 1. Emotional and behavioral abnormalities: Under normal circumstances, 7-month-old babies can already understand adults’ verbal expression of criticism or praise, and will cry when waking up due to lack of security. On the other hand, babies with cerebral palsy may have poor understanding of language and show indifference to the surrounding environment. 2. Delayed motor development: A 7-month-old baby can turn over continuously in bed, sit steadily on his/her own, crawl to reach the toys in front of him/her, and hand over the things in his/her hand to the other hand. On the other hand, babies with cerebral palsy may only be able to roll over, need to be supported by adults to sit, cannot hold things in their hands for a long time, and have uncoordinated movements of the hands, mouth and eyes. 3. Delayed language development: 7 months old babies can make ma ma, da da sounds and like to communicate with adults. However, babies with cerebral palsy have delayed language development and poor comprehension of adults’ language. In addition, they may have dull or squinted eyes and often drool with their mouths open. Parents are advised to seek prompt medical intervention if their 7-month-old baby has any of the above symptoms, in order to improve the baby’s quality of life in the future.
