Running is usually possible in ankylosing spondylitis, but strenuous exercise needs to be avoided. If the disease is in a progressive stage, running is usually not recommended. Ankylosing spondylitis is a rheumatic immune disease, the main lesions are sacroiliac joints, spine and peripheral joints, and accompanied by varying degrees of extra-articular manifestations such as eye, intestinal, pulmonary and cardiovascular lesions. Some of the severe symptoms can appear spinal deformity, spinal ankylosis and other symptoms. If the condition of ankylosing spondylitis patients is stable, without spinal deformity, activity limitation and other symptoms, generally can be appropriate for running, but need to avoid strenuous exercise, so as not to damage the health. For patients with progressive disease and symptoms such as spinal deformity and spinal ankylosis, running is not recommended and adequate rest time needs to be ensured. Once diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, patients should actively cooperate with doctors to take relevant treatment measures to avoid delaying the condition.
