What’s wrong with the pain of pressing on the San Yin Jiao point?

Pressing pain or spontaneous pain at the Sanyinjiao point excludes improper angles of pressure and may be a problem with liver, spleen and kidney function. Sanyinjiao point is on the inner side of the calf, one of the frequently used acupoints of the foot Taiyin Spleen, and is the meeting point of the foot Tri-Yin Meridian (Liver, Spleen and Kidney), which has the effect of strengthening the Spleen and the Stomach (restoring the functions of the Spleen and Stomach), tonifying the Liver and Kidneys, moving Qi and activating the Blood (promoting the movement of Qi so that the blood can circulate), dredging the meridians and clearing the channels or reorganizing the Qi and blood of the foot Tri-Yin Meridian and then diverting them. Pressing and kneading, acupuncture or moxibustion on Sanyinjiao points can usually treat weakness of the spleen and stomach, such as intestinal tinnitus, bloating and diarrhea; gynecological disorders such as irregular menstruation, menstrual pain, and dysmenorrhea; palpitations (accelerated heartbeat, often accompanied by panic attacks), insomnia, hypertension, cold hands and feet, paralysis of the lower limbs, as well as various signs of yin deficiency, and so on. Since Sanyinjiao is the meeting point of the three yin meridians of the foot (liver, spleen and kidney), if there is pain when pressing on Sanyinjiao or spontaneous pain at Sanyinjiao, it may be a sign of problems with the functions of the liver, spleen and kidney. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to seek professional medical help.
