The lymph nodes in the jaw can be reactive due to inflammation, viruses and other stimuli, such as laryngitis, mouth ulcers and gingivitis. Lymph nodes are important immune organs of the body, like the body’s health guards. When there is a disease change somewhere, the corresponding lymph node will sound an alarm and appear reactive hyperplasia. In addition to swollen lymph nodes, bumps in the jaw can be cysts of the submandibular gland, most of which are benign.
