Pus in the throat usually does not heal on its own. Pus in the throat is mostly seen as inflammation and pus in the tonsils, which indicates a serious condition and requires active treatment to avoid delaying the condition. The main clinical manifestations are sore throat, earache, high fever, etc., accompanied by various degrees of general discomfort. Examination of the throat reveals bilateral congestion and swelling of the palatine tonsils and yellow-white purulent secretions at the mouth of the pharyngeal crypt. The condition of septic throat is serious and usually cannot be cured by itself, so oral medication is required under the guidance of a doctor. In mild cases, oral amoxicillin capsules and cephalosporin antibiotics are given orally. In severe cases, glucocorticoids may be given as appropriate, along with a combination of metronidazole. If the condition does not improve after 2-3 days of treatment, the blood test should be repeated in a timely manner and the medication should be guided according to the results of bacterial culture and drug sensitivity. Patients also need to maintain adequate rest, drink more water, quit smoking and alcohol, and abstain from eating spicy and stimulating foods.
