Laryngocarcinoma and pharyngitis are two different diseases with different causes, symptoms, treatment and prognosis.
There are distinct differences in the symptoms of laryngeal cancer and pharyngitis.
First, pharyngitis generally does not progress, that is, it does not get worse over time; however, laryngeal cancer can get worse over time.
The second point is that the symptoms of pharyngitis are generally intermittent, and it will change with the condition of the body. When the body’s resistance is strong, the symptoms are mild or no symptoms; when the resistance decreases, the symptoms of pharyngitis will appear obviously. However, the symptoms of laryngeal cancer are persistent and progressively aggravated, such as hoarseness, which will not be relieved by the patient’s resting voice, but will become more and more serious, and will affect the patient’s breathing in a serious way, causing poor breathing or even difficulty in breathing.
The third point is that laryngeal cancer can have metastatic symptoms, such as enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, neck metastasis, or distant metastasis, such as metastasis to the lung or bone, which will appear over time. But pharyngitis does not show these symptoms and does not show problems elsewhere.
The fourth point is that laryngeal cancer can develop other symptoms over time, such as the distant metastasis mentioned earlier, and it can develop the corresponding symptoms. However, pharyngitis generally only occurs in the throat, and other areas are not affected or involved. The fifth point is that the treatment of pharyngitis is usually based on medication, and the prognosis is generally better; while the treatment of laryngeal cancer is mainly surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatment methods, and generally the quality of life of patients will be reduced or even significantly reduced after laryngeal cancer treatment.
Although laryngeal cancer and pharyngitis are both diseases of the throat, there are major differences between them in various aspects. Therefore, patients with pharyngitis do not need to worry too much, while patients with laryngeal cancer should be treated actively.
