Swelling of the feet starting in the afternoon can be attributed to the following conditions: 1) kidney problems, including chronic glomerulonephritis; 2) poor venous return, including age, weakened muscle strength of the lower limbs, or cerebral thrombosis causing hemiplegia on one side, which can lead to swelling of the feet; 3) varicose veins or venous thrombosis of the lower limbs can also lead to swelling of the feet. In this case, we need to do routine urine test, kidney function test and patient’s medical history first. Then it is to do the lower extremity venous ultrasound to see which specific condition is clear. At present, we need to clarify the diagnosis first, and then determine the appropriate treatment plan.
