What does prk mean?

prk generally refers to laser refractive keratectomy. Laser refractive keratectomy is a procedure that reduces or eliminates refractive error by removing small amounts of corneal tissue and changing the curvature of the anterior surface of the cornea through the use of an argon fluoride-generated excimer laser at a wavelength of 193mm. It is primarily indicated for adult myopic patients over the age of 18, in which the degree of myopia has stabilized and is essentially no longer progressing, and the cornea is appropriately thick. Patients are advised to undergo the surgery reasonably under the guidance of the doctor. In daily life, pay attention to eye hygiene, avoid prolonged close-distance use of the eyes, and at the same time, strengthen outdoor activities to relieve eye fatigue, and check the eyesight regularly. If there is any discomfort, timely consultation is recommended.
