What is iodophor used to disinfect

Iodophor is a clinically used antiseptic agent, mainly composed of iodine and polyvinylpyrrolidone, with a black or dark brown liquid color. It is mainly used for disinfection of body surface such as skin areas. It should be noted that the concentration of iodophor used for disinfection of different areas varies, such as 0.5% iodophor for perineum disinfection, 1% iodophor for oral disinfection, and 2% iodophor for local skin and surgical area disinfection. In the daily use of iodophor, it should be noted that iodophor is a topical drug and should not be taken internally. Internal use of iodophor can lead to gastrointestinal corrosion, abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood in stool and other gastrointestinal symptoms, and in severe cases, hemorrhagic shock, with a concentration of 9%-12%. Diluted iodophor has an unstable structure, so it needs to be used now and stored at room temperature and away from light.
