How to treat heavy lips?

Heavy lip, also known as double lip or double upper lip, is a congenital developmental malformation, which is also thought to be related to endocrine disorders. The reason for this is that during the embryonic period, the mucous membrane and mucus gland tissue on the inner side of the red lips of the upper lip proliferate and form a double layer of raised red lips. Heavy lips are mainly found on the upper lip, and are most obvious during adolescence, and the texture is no different from normal. When the mouth is closed, the deformity is not visible, but when the mouth is open, the two lip edges are visible. There is a transverse groove between the two lip margins, which presents two clear red lips when smiling. Congenital heavy lip mostly occurs in the upper lip, and two lip margins are visible in the upper lip. There is a transverse groove between the two lip edges. Heavy lip repair is a partial excision to restore the normal shape of the red lips. There are two types of surgery: 1. Shuttle excision method: A shuttle incision is made along the perimeter of the heavy lip, and the mucosa and submucosa are excised in a wedge shape, and then the wound is closed in layers. 2. Transverse and longitudinal prismatic excision method: The transverse and longitudinal shuttle excision method involves a stitch on each side of the upper lip and traction of two lines to make the upper lip turn out. A transverse pike incision is made on each side of the protruding part of the heavy lip, while a longitudinal incision is made in the midline part, and the excess mucosa and submucosa tissues are removed and then sutured in layers. 5-7 days later, the sutures are removed.
