How to treat limited elbow flexion and extension

Restriction of elbow flexion and extension is associated with anterior dislocation of the elbow joint, ulnar humerus fracture, and osteoarthritis of the elbow joint, which can be given non-surgical and surgical treatments according to the etiology. 1. Anterior dislocation of elbow joint: elbow hyperextension and flexion limitation can occur, and it is elastic and fixed. Manipulation can be given, and when combined with hawksbill fracture, incision and internal fixation surgery is needed. 2. Ulnar humerus fracture: it is an intra-articular fracture of the elbow joint, with swelling, compression pain, semi-flexion of the elbow joint and dysfunction of extension and flexion. The principle of treatment is to require precise alignment, reliable fixation, and early start of functional joint activities. It can be fixed by manipulation and surgical incision. 3. Osteoarthritis of elbow joint: pain, swelling, deformity and dysfunction are the main symptoms, and there can be bone friction sensation during elbow joint activities, limited elbow extension activities, and the joint appears straight and deformed. Physical therapy, drug analgesic and anti-inflammatory treatment (e.g. ibuprofen), static splint external fixation, local closed injection, surgery and other treatments can be given. Restricted joint flexion and extension may also be caused by other reasons, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or treatment, not self-medication.
