What does it mean when the tongue is pale and dark, the moss is white, and the pulse is dull and fine?

Pale tongue, dark moss, white and greasy pulse is a symptom of spleen deficiency with water-dampness internal retention (water-dampness stays in the body), and qi and blood deficiency (both qi and blood are deficient). A pale, dark tongue with white, greasy moss and a sunken, thin pulse are three clinical manifestations in Chinese medicine that can be used as the basis for diagnosis in Chinese medicine. 1. Dark tongue is the color of the tongue is lighter than the normal color of the tongue light red tongue color, white bias, red bias is less, the tongue body is dull without luster. It suggests deficiency of qi and blood or yang (deficiency of yang qi). 2. White and greasy moss is a state in which the tongue is white and slightly thicker than the normal thin white moss. This suggests that dampness and turbidity are stagnant within the tongue, which may be due to phlegm-beverage (a pathological product of impaired metabolism of water and fluid) or food stagnation (accumulation of food in the stomach due to indigestion of food). 3. Sinking pulse is a sunken pulse that is not easily detected by light finger pressure, but can only be felt when pressed between the tendons and bones by heavy finger pressure, and the pulse is thin, straight and soft, like a silk thread. Sedimentation of the pulse suggests deficiency of qi and blood, and dampness as the disease. A pale, dark tongue with white, greasy moss and a fine pulse suggests that there may be a deficiency of the spleen and dampness, or a deficiency of qi and blood. However, TCM diagnosis needs to be based on a comprehensive judgment. If you feel unwell, it is recommended to go to the hospital immediately for professional diagnosis by a Chinese medicine practitioner who will synthesize the patient’s condition.
