What to do about platelet abnormalities

There are two types of platelet abnormalities: one is abnormal platelet count; the other is abnormal platelet function. Platelet count abnormalities include increased platelet count and decreased platelet count. For patients with increased platelet count, if they also have underlying diseases such as coronary artery disease and hypertension, they need to take antiplatelet therapy with drugs such as aspirin and poliovirus. At the same time, the cause of the increased platelet count should be actively investigated, such as thrombocytosis caused by primary thrombocytosis, which requires treatment with hydroxyurea or interferon. Thrombocytopenia is commonly seen in immune thrombocytopenia, aplastic anemia, acute leukemia and other diseases, which need to be clearly diagnosed and given different treatments. For example, patients with acute leukemia can first be treated with platelet transfusion, and then through chemotherapy, the number of platelets will also appear in remission to return to normal. Abnormal platelet function mainly refers to the abnormal platelet aggregation function, platelet aggregation function is weakened or increased are abnormal conditions, such as platelet aggregation function is weakened, the common clinical disease is platelet anemia; if platelet aggregation function is enhanced, often easy to induce thrombosis and embolic diseases, need to give anticoagulation therapy.
