There is no strict clinical regulation on the time of taking Ling Gui Jiu Gan Tang, which can be taken before or after meals. Specific medication needs to be carried out under the guidance of a physician. Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang has the effect of warming yang and resolving phlegm-drinking (warming yang qi in the body to promote the metabolism of water and liquid), invigorating the spleen and inducing dampness. It can be used to treat phlegm-drinking (a pathological product of impaired metabolism of water and fluid) in the presence of deficiency of middle yang. Symptoms include fullness in the chest and ribs, dizziness and palpitation (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), shortness of breath and coughing, white tongue coating, and slippery or tight pulse. This formula is not suitable for those who cough with sticky phlegm due to heat from drinking. If medication is needed, it should be diagnosed by a doctor and the treatment should be standardized according to the doctor’s instructions.
