Hypertension itself is a history of natural evolution and human civilization reinforcing and resisting each other. When the ancestors of modern humans appeared in the African savanna hundreds of thousands of years ago, natural evolution endowed them with a system to preserve salt, glucose, fat, and other life-critical but often scarce substances for human survival. Hypertension has many harmful effects, causing strokes, coronary heart disease, kidney disease, retinal disease, etc. The Framingham Heart Study in 1961 began the exploration of hypertension, raising awareness of hypertension, providing arguments for the future treatment of hypertension worldwide, and laying the foundation stone for the health of the world’s people. We should remain relaxed when measuring blood pressure, should rest in a quiet state for at least 5 minutes, and abstain from smoking and coffee for 30 minutes. The blood pressure standards recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) are that any normal adult should have a systolic blood pressure of no more than 140 mmHg (18.6 kPa) and a diastolic blood pressure of no more than 90 mmHg (12 kPa). When diagnosing hypertension, blood pressure must be measured several times, and should be non-same day, more than two times in a row to be considered as hypertension, only one increase in blood pressure can not yet confirm the diagnosis, but need to be followed up and observed. An unhealthy lifestyle can cause an increase in blood pressure, such as an uncontrolled diet, long-term office life, irregular work schedules, and tremendous life and psychological stress. Therefore, a healthy lifestyle can prevent hypertension and get a healthy body. We can prevent hypertension by limiting excessive salt intake, weight control, proper aerobic exercise, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol, and regular work and rest time. Exercise not only promotes blood circulation and reduces cholesterol production, but also enhances the occurrence of muscle, bone and joint stiffness. Exercise can increase appetite, promote bowel movement, prevent constipation, and improve sleep. Aerobic exercise can lower blood pressure as well as weight loss, such as walking, jogging, tai chi, cycling and swimming are all aerobic exercises. The choice of hypertension drugs must be taken under the guidance of a doctor, not to greed for “cheap” drugs, “cure” drugs, not arbitrary oral and discontinued. The elderly should not be too hasty in lowering their blood pressure, avoiding the eagerness to cure the disease and preferring fast-acting antihypertensive drugs. Each person has a different physique and other accompanying diseases, the choice of drugs is different, avoid to “Zhang San” to learn from the treatment experience, and the phenomenon of “borrowed drugs”, suitable for his drugs may not be suitable for you.
