Tongue burns should be treated with local physical cooling, fluid and light diet and local medication under the guidance of a doctor.
1. The first step for tongue burns is to use ice or cold water to lower the local temperature to relieve pain and prevent edema of the mucous membrane tissue after burns, but it is not advisable to apply cold compresses for a long time to avoid causing frostbite and so on.
2. It is recommended to have a liquid or semi-liquid diet within one to two weeks after the tongue burns, and should not eat spicy and salty and sweet food to avoid stimulating pain and affecting the healing of the wound. And minimize the movement of the tongue to promote wound healing.
3. Tongue burns can be gargled or coated with anti-inflammatory drugs to promote healing (e.g. Chlorhexidine Gargle, Rehabilitation Solution or Cell Growth Factor, etc.) under the guidance of a doctor.
Tongue burns are recommended to consult a doctor for symptomatic treatment in a timely manner to avoid delay or even aggravation of the condition.
