Itchy breasts should firstly be considered as breast eczema, mostly seen in breastfeeding women, manifested as dark red patches on the nipples, areola and breasts with papules and pimples on top, with visible oozing in the form of punctate vesicles due to scratching and other lesions, at which point a dermatological visit should be made. Secondly, breast fungal infections need to be considered, especially in patients with unilateral itchy breasts, manifested as red patches on the nipples, areola and breasts with clearer borders. Flaking may be seen to be evident.
Eczema-like carcinoma of the breast, which is difficult to distinguish from breast eczema in its early stages, should be seen in breast and nail surgery if it is not breast eczema.
