Lactulose used for laxative purposes usually does not cause weight gain.
Lactulose is a medication used to relieve constipation. It is a synthetic disaccharide drug that is usually not absorbed by the body. So taking lactulose does not usually lead to obesity.
The main function of Lactulose is to promote intestinal peristalsis in patients with constipation, as well as lubricate the intestines, which is a good treatment for constipation and difficulty in getting down the stool due to indigestion, intestinal flora imbalance, and slow intestinal peristalsis.
Adverse reactions such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain and diarrhea may occur after application of this drug; this drug is contraindicated in patients with intestinal obstruction and acute abdominal pain, and should not be taken at the same time with other laxatives. If taken with other laxatives, it may cause severe diarrhea, resulting in water and electrolyte disorders.
If constipation exists and the drug cannot be taken on its own, it is recommended to consult a doctor as soon as possible and apply medication under the doctor’s supervision.
