What is the quick fix for not being able to urinate

Inability to urinate, i.e., urinary retention, should be treated appropriately depending on the type and cause of urinary retention. General treatment includes medication, surgery and so on. 1. Drug treatment: 5α-reductase inhibitors, commonly used drugs: dutasteride, finasteride. Adrenergic α-receptor blocking drugs, commonly used drugs: Alfuzosin, Doxazosin, Tadalafil, Tamsulosin, Terazosin. 2. Surgical treatment: such as prostate surgery, endourethrotomy, bladder bulge or rectal bulge repair, tumor resection surgery. 3. Other treatments: including electrical stimulation therapy, rehabilitation physiotherapy, etc. In critical cases, the patient may be unable to urinate, lower abdominal distension and other emergencies. Immediate treatment is needed: urinary catheterization or cystostomy to drain the urine and relieve the patient’s urinary difficulties. Failure to receive prompt treatment may result in bladder rupture, which may require more complex surgical intervention and is usually not fatal. The need to carry a urinary catheter or cystostomy for long periods of time may affect quality of life. Patients are advised to seek active medical attention and medications should be administered under the supervision of a physician.
