Job’s tears and ginger can be boiled together to strengthen the spleen, dispel dampness, warm the middle and harmonize the stomach.
Ginger is pungent in flavor and slightly warm in nature. It belongs to the spleen, lung and stomach meridians. Its function is to relieve the exterior and harmonize the stomach, warm the middle and stop vomiting (treating vomiting caused by stomach cold by warming the spleen and stomach). It is often used to treat symptoms such as chills and fever (fear of cold and elevated body temperature), sneezing, runny nose, vomiting and stomach pain. This medicine should not be taken by people who have a deficiency of Yin and heat.
Job’s tears, also called Coix lacryma, are sweet and light in flavor, cool in nature, and belong to the spleen, stomach and lung meridians. It has the effect of strengthening the spleen and inducing dampness. It can be used to regulate edema, dysuria (unsmooth urination), poor appetite, diarrhea and other symptoms. Adverse reactions and contraindications have not been clarified.
