The patient’s eyes are swollen and protruding, which may be caused by high myopia, hyperthyroidism, orbital space-occupying lesions and so on.
1. High myopia: Because of the growth of anterior and posterior axes of the eyeballs in patients with high myopia, patients may have the manifestation of protruding eyeballs, but the swelling of the eyelids is usually not obvious.
2. Hyperthyroidism: If suffering from hyperthyroidism, thyroid autoimmune antibodies will attack the post-globe tissues of the eyes and the eye muscles, resulting in localized tissue hyperplasia and cellular swelling of the orbital area, which will cause the patient’s eyes to be enlarged and protruding.
3. Orbital space-occupying lesions: patients with orbital space-occupying lesions such as dermoid cysts and cavernous hemangiomas may have enlarged and protruding eyes due to the swelling squeezing the eyeball.
It is recommended that patients with enlarged and protruding eyes should consult the hospital in time to evaluate their conditions and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
