A boil on the inside of the ear, known as an external auditory canal boil, is caused by infection of the skin follicles or sebaceous glands in the cartilaginous area of the external auditory canal by bacteria such as staphylococcus. Local and systemic treatments can be used to control the disease and improve the symptoms.
1. Local treatment
(1) When the boil is immature, placing a fine tampon soaked with 10% ichthyol glycerin on the boil can promote the absorption of inflammation, and local hot compresses, infrared irradiation, and helium-neon laser irradiation can be used to promote the limitation of inflammation or the maturation of the boil.
(2) If the boil has matured but not broken, a fine cotton swab dipped in 30%~50% silver nitrate can be used to cauterize the pus head to make it burst; or the pus can be drained by incision in the direction of the long axis of the external auditory canal, and rubber strips are put in place to drain the pus after incision. If the boil bursts on its own, the pus will be swabbed and the surrounding skin will be cleaned with 75% alcohol and antibiotic tampons will be placed.
2. Systemic treatment
(1) When the pain is severe, give analgesic, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen and so on.
(2) the more serious symptoms, oral or injection antibiotic drugs, first penicillin, cephalosporins and macrolides, such as amoxicillin, cefuroxime, roxithromycin and so on.
When you find a fire boil inside the ear, you need to actively seek medical attention to clarify the diagnosis, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment.
