A. Points to note for spring health
1, pay attention to the wind and cold, increase and reduce clothing
Chinese medicine believes that “the wind is the longest of all diseases”, “the wind is good at moving a number of changes”, “spring more wind diseases”, “spring can not back cold, cold will hurt the lungs “. Therefore, we should follow the law of “spring cover and autumn freeze”, pay attention to the cold, wind and warmth, according to the weather changes and physical condition, increase and reduce clothing at the right time, wind and cold, in order to comply with the sudden changes, convergence of Yin and Yang protection, disease prevention and health care.
2.Rational diet, reduce acidity, preferably sweet
It is said in Chinese medicine that “when it is spring, food should be less sour and more sweet to nourish the spleen and support the yang”. Therefore, the spring diet to strengthen the spleen and Yang as the main regimen, in the daily diet should eat more chicken, fish, meat, eggs, soybean products, as well as fresh vegetables, fruits, dried fruit and other foods rich in high protein, high vitamins, high trace elements, high sugar and warm, soft, easy to digest, forbidden to eat raw and cold products, in order to increase nutrition, support Yang Qi, make it flourish.
3.Change the living environment to help nourish Yang
Indoor cleaning, keep clean and tidy, orderly placement of goods, but also flowers, grass, fish, which can not only green, beautify, purify the room, but also regulate the indoor air environment. Doors and windows should always be open, so that indoor sunlight, fresh air circulation, which is beneficial to prevent disease health. Also ensure sufficient sleep, nourish the will in addition to fatigue, in order to “spring and summer nourish Yang”.
4, active physical exercise, enhance physical fitness
As the old saying goes: “The plan of the day lies in the morning, the plan of the year lies in the spring”. Spring is the sprouting of all things, the grass grows and flowers bloom, is also the golden season for physical exercise. Therefore, to “sleep early and get up early, wide walk in the court”, or excursions, or climbing, or practice boxing, or jogging, these adapt to the seasonal characteristics of the activities, not only can make the human qi and blood flow, stagnation and dispersion, prevention of disease before it happens, but also to open up the mind, enjoy the emotions and enhance physical fitness.
5.Avoid pollen and allergies
Allergic people should pay attention to avoid pollen and other allergens, it is best to wear a mask outside.
6.Regulate your emotions, enjoy your emotions and nourish your nature
Spring should be appropriate to increase some diet, such as green tea, coffee, bananas, chocolate, etc., these foods can excite the nervous system, eliminate fatigue, to prevent “spring sleepiness” and emotional depression. In addition, do not handle things too aggressively, and strive for peace of mind, emotional stability. Fish, flowers, fishing, etc. can regulate the mood, enjoy the mood.
Second, the prevention of common diseases in spring
1, spring beware of respiratory disease
Spring breeze, everything revives, while the human eye can not see the pathogenic microorganisms are quietly multiplying, in the appropriate conditions and environment to invade the human body to breed disease. Spring is most likely to attack the human body, but often not noticed respiratory tract infections, that is, the so-called cold, that is, acute and chronic bronchitis, asthma, etc., which are related to the vagaries of temperature.
The normal human respiratory tract has certain defensive functions, with warming, filtering and moistening effects on the inhaled air. However, under the influence of various special conditions and factors, various diseases can occur in the respiratory tract.
First, infection. Most of them are viral infections, and a few mycoplasma and bacterial infections, which can cause changes in the mucosal epithelium of the respiratory tract, thus reducing the defense function and the recurrent attacks of acute and chronic bronchitis, especially chronic bronchitis.
Second, spring is the season of frequent temperature changes, often making the respiratory small blood vessel spasm ischemia, blood circulation disorders, mucosal epithelial fibers become shorter, adhesion, inverted or off, weakening the purification and clearance of the respiratory tract, facilitating the stay, invasion, reproduction and disease caused by viruses, bacteria, etc.
Third, the inhalation of polluted air, such as air sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, chlorine, as well as the street grilled fish, barbecue smoke, charcoal smoke and other stimuli, may become one of the causes of the disease.
Smoking is more directly related. Smoking makes the bronchial spasm, the respiratory mucosa epithelial cell cilia movement is reduced, mucus increases, purification function is weakened, etc., for the disease to create favorable conditions.
Fourth, certain glands in the elderly are in decline. The degeneration of respiratory defense function, the decrease of immunoglobulin, and the decline of mononuclear phagocyte function provide the intrinsic conditions for the development of chronic bronchial disease.
Allergic factors. In patients with wheezing bronchitis there is a history of allergy and an increased rate of positive skin tests for a variety of antigens. The allergens are: dust, dust mites, pollen, feathers, animal hair, fungi, etc.
2, cold, influenza prevention
Influenza prevention
Spring is also a good season for influenza (commonly known as “flu”). Influenza is different from the common cold, the culprit is the influenza virus, spread through the air, droplets. The symptoms are mainly acute high fever, body temperature can be more than ℃, accompanied by headache, general muscle and joint pain, while the respiratory symptoms such as nasal congestion, sore throat and cough are light. Since there is a lack of effective anti-influenza drugs, the focus is on patient care and prevention of complications, while for the general population, prevention is more important than cure.
You should strengthen your exercise, enhance your physical fitness and improve your ability to resist cold. In winter and spring, it is important to do a good job of keeping warm to minimize the triggers for the occurrence of influenza. Water should be sprinkled and windows should be opened frequently to ventilate the room, and bedding should be washed and dried frequently.
During the flu epidemic, you should go to public places less often. If one of your relatives is sick, isolate the patient on the one hand and disinfect the room with vinegar or bleach on the other.
Take a decoction of 9 grams each of Chinese herbs Guanzhong, Panax notoginseng, Pueraria lobata, Huohuo, and raw licorice, one dose daily for three days, to prevent influenza.
Influenza patients should go to the hospital in time, and pay attention to keeping warm, bed rest and drinking more water, and pay attention to isolation.
3.Prevention of allergic rhinitis
Pollen that causes spring hay fever is mainly tree pollen, such as pollen from pine, cypress, fir, poplar, willow, ash, ginkgo, oak, eucalyptus, paulownia, wood sorrel and other trees. The types of allergenic pollen are also related to local cultivation, climate and other factors. Among the most common allergenic pollen, in the north are cypress, pine, poplar, willow, elm, acacia, birch, etc., while paulownia is mostly planted along the sidewalks of cities in east and south central China, and many cities in south China are planted with wood sorrel, red-flowered goat’s foot, neem, etc. The pollen of these trees then becomes an important local allergenic pollen.
Symptoms of springtime hay fever
Since pollen particles are large, with a diameter of about 20-60 microns (only particles smaller than 5 microns can be inhaled directly into the airways, causing asthma), the first to come into contact with it are the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes. Patients first manifest nasal allergy, sneezing and runny nose, the heaviest in the morning, itchy nose and eyes, some patients also have itchy ears, and asthma can occur. Patients are usually young and strong, and pediatric hay fever gradually increases after the age of four or five because of the need for a period of sensitization before the onset of the disease. In addition to the amount of exposure to pollen, some people develop the disease while others do not. This is related to the amount of exposure to tree pollen, but also to the individual’s allergic constitution.
Prevention and treatment of hay fever in spring
In the season of allergic pollen dispersal, people with allergic history should try to go to places where flowers and trees are abundant, and not to smell flowers and plants; bring desensitizing drugs, such as Benadryl and Xylazine, etc. In case of itchy skin, general fever, cough and shortness of breath, they should leave the place quickly, and if the symptoms are mild, they can take oral Xylazine or Paracetamol by themselves. Once the symptoms of asthma appear, you should go to the hospital promptly.
The treatment of hay fever is divided into two aspects: first, symptomatic treatment with drugs to control symptoms, and second, immunotherapy to prevent attacks. There is no need to be too anxious when hay fever occurs, because hay fever in spring is different from hay fever in summer and autumn. The allergenicity of these tree pollens is weaker, and the symptoms caused are not too heavy and pass in ten days. There are many anti-allergy medications that can reduce nasal and ocular allergy symptoms, such as direct decongestant drops to reduce nasal congestion. However, decongestants can only be applied for a short period of time, otherwise, less than a day, more than a day, it will cause drug rhinitis. In this case, the nasal congestion is only temporarily reduced after each drop, and then it is aggravated. Sodium cromoglycate or corticosteroid nasal drops can reduce nasal symptoms, the effect occurs after a week of medication, however, its side effects are also very large, so you can not expect only on the drug, still to avoid prevention is better.
4.Asthma prevention at the time of flowering
Asthma full name: “bronchial asthma”. Asthma can be divided into two categories: exogenous and endogenous from the etiology. Exogenous asthma is mostly caused by inhalation or ingestion of certain external pathogens, usually allergic substances, such as pollen, concealment, fish and shrimp, as well as feathers, paint, etc. and the onset. During the spring flowering season, people are often happy to take their friends and relatives out for excursions and trips, and all kinds of pollen “enter” with the wind, so asthma will naturally increase.
Bronchial asthma caused by pollen often develops suddenly, often with symptoms such as itching, sneezing and stuffiness, and then asthma appears quickly. At this time, the patient can not lie down. The patient can only sit down, the air is slacker, and a croupy sound is issued in the throat. In severe cases, the face is pale, the lips are blue, the forehead has cold sweat, and the hands and feet are cold. In mild cases, it can be relieved after a few minutes to a few hours. If the asthma does not go away after 24 hours or more, it is called persistent asthma, which is a serious case of asthma attack and must be sent to hospital in time.
To prevent this type of asthma attack, the first step is to avoid exposure to allergens associated with the onset of the attack. However, if it is related to the inhalation of pollen, it is often “impossible to prevent”. For those who are prone to asthma attacks in the spring, you can take ketotifen in advance under the guidance of your doctor, one tablet a day before going to bed, and topical spray with Baclofen aerosol or Pulmicort aerosol, 2 sprays at a time, 2 times a day, to also prevent asthma attacks. If you are known to be allergic to certain pollen, try not to go to possible places where such pollen is present. Avoid smoking, alcohol abuse, overwork, cold, and sadness. It is advisable to carry fast-acting asthma medications such as Ventolin with you when you go on excursions for emergency use. If possible, you can go to the hospital to use desensitization therapy to prevent the onset of the disease.
Chinese herbal medicine for spring recuperation
1. Principles
(1) To strengthen the vital energy
The warm and windy climate in spring is ideal for the survival and spread of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, so epidemic infectious diseases are common. This is especially necessary for those who are recovering from a long illness, deficient after illness, deficient in qi and blood after surgery, and the elderly and children with weak constitution. In spring, we should pay attention to the characteristics of the seasons, and according to the different climates in each region, we should reasonably choose the prescriptions that can nourish the internal organs, such as warm, hot, cool, calm, beneficial to the qi, blood, nourishing the yang and nourishing the yin. Usually, for those who are not sick and have little difference in personal physical condition, it is advisable to choose pungent and sweet products as well as warm tonic in the north, such as ginseng, rehmannia, angelica, astragalus, etc., to help spring yang rise and protect yang energy. In the south, the climate is warm and humid, often spring rains, it is appropriate to take into account the spleen and dampness products, such as ginseng, poria, atractylodes, coix seeds, etc.. After the spring flowers bloom, you can enter the cool tonic products, such as yu zhu, raw earth, sage, etc.

The spleen likes to be dry and bad for dampness, the main transport of water and dampness, the spleen function is robust to prevent water stagnation in the body and dampness.
Therefore, especially if the lung and spleen are deficient, the ability to resist wind-cold, wind-heat and wind-damp is also low, so they are prone to catching colds and rheumatism.
