With the improvement of literacy and the popularization of health education, people have a certain understanding of the dangers of hypertension and its relationship with stroke, some people think that they are not at risk of stroke if their blood pressure is not high, but they do not know that stroke can occur even if their blood pressure is normal. Stroke is divided into two categories, hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke. At present, due to the control of hypertension, brain hemorrhage caused by it has gradually decreased, while the trend of ischemic stroke has increased. Ischemic stroke can occur both in patients with hypertension accompanied by atherosclerosis and in patients with only atherosclerosis but not high blood pressure. This is because, in addition to hypertension, there are many non-blood pressure factors such as hyperlipidemia, diabetes, heart disease, and smoking that can lead to atherosclerosis of the cerebral vessels, narrowing the lumen of the vessel to the point of occlusion, resulting in stroke symptoms such as hemiplegia and aphasia. Many elderly people, who do not have high blood pressure or a history of hypertension, suddenly wake up in the early morning with stroke symptoms, which are related to low blood pressure during sleep at night, slow blood flow, easy deposition of platelets, cholesterol and fibrin in the blood, and blockage of cerebral vessels. Therefore, the elderly with hypertension should effectively control blood pressure to prevent stroke. Those who do not have high blood pressure should not be paralyzed in their thinking, but should also be alert.
