Varicose arteries do not have this terminology, but can be interpreted as tortuous and dilated arteries, which manifest as a pulsating mass in a part of the torso, often mistaken for a tumor. These patients often have hypertension and poor blood pressure control, and the arterial vessels gradually become tortuous and dilated under the stimulation of long-term hypertension, forming arterial dilatation. The characteristic manifestation is a pulsating skin mass. Varicose veins are superficial veins that are tortuous, dilated, non-pulsatile and bluish in appearance, which disappear when pressed by hand and recover when released.
