Is it normal for pus to flow after appendicitis?

Patients with appendicitis who develop pus after surgery should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. If purulent exudation occurs within 1-2 days after the abdominal drainage tube, it should be within the normal range, because for severe acute suppurative or even perforated appendicitis, the drainage tube left in place after surgery can cause a small amount of purulent exudation, and as the disease progresses, the exudation gradually decreases and the disease gradually recovers, which is also a normal postoperative pathological process. However, if there is pus flow from the incision after surgery, this is not normal and may cause inflammatory purulent manifestations such as local incision redness and pain, and the patient may also develop fever. Therefore, if the phenomenon of pus flowing from the incision after appendicitis occurs, the incision line must be removed in time to facilitate adequate drainage and the application of sensitive antibiotics for anti-infection treatment, which can enable the postoperative condition to be controlled and recovered.
