H. pylori is a microorganism inside the stomach, it causes gastritis, gastric ulcer, and if not treated well, stomach cancer may occur. Nowadays, quadruple therapy is advocated. Quadruple therapy is the active treatment with two antibiotics, plus proton pump inhibitor, plus acid bismuth suppressant. Generally the course of treatment should be at least fourteen days, after fourteen days, then take a month of proton pump inhibitors, and then recheck the carbon-14 blow test to see if there is still H. pylori infection.
