Jin Gui Kidney Qi Pills and Jisheng Kidney Qi Pills are slightly different in terms of ingredients, properties, efficacy, etc. The former favors warming and tonifying the kidney yang (warming and replenishing the kidney yang qi), while the latter favors diuresis and elimination of edema (clearing the urine and eliminating oedema), and it is recommended that the patient comply with the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment. 1. Composition: The composition of the two drugs is more or less the same, both contain Chinese yam, Poria, moutan skin, cornelian cherry, zedoary and other drugs, but the former also contains dihuang, cinnamon sticks, the latter contains ripened dihuang. 2. Characteristics: Both are honey pill preparations, but the color is slightly different, the former is dark brown, the latter is brown to dark brown. 3. Efficacy: both can warm the kidneys, transform qi and promote diuresis, but the former favors warming the kidney yang, while the latter favors promoting diuresis to reduce swelling. 4. Indications: The former is suitable for kidney yang deficiency symptoms such as cold fear of cold limbs (fear of cold, cold limbs), lumbar and knee soreness and weakness (lumbar and knee soreness and weakness), etc.; the latter is suitable for phlegm (a pathological product of impaired metabolism of water), coughing, and dysuria (unruly urination), etc., due to deficiency of kidney yang (yang qi deficiency of the kidneys), water-dampness (water-dampness stagnation in the body). 5. Contraindications: the former is contraindicated in pregnant women, and caution should be exercised in cases of Yin deficiency and internal heat; the latter contraindications are not yet clear.
