A dog bite while wearing clothes with skin or mucous membrane damage or bleeding can be treated by cleaning the wound thoroughly and administering rabies vaccine and/or rabies virus immunoglobulin.
1. Thoroughly clean the wound: If there is localized bruising or bleeding from a skin lesion after being bitten by a dog while wearing clothes, first clean the wound thoroughly with running water for 15 to 30 minutes, wash the wound repeatedly with soapy water, and disinfect the area with iodine povidone or iodine several times.
2. Rabies vaccination or immunoglobulin: for secondary exposure, rabies vaccine should be given in time, the first dose of which is usually given within 24 hours, and the rest should be given according to the procedure; for tertiary exposure, in addition to rabies vaccine, rabies immunoglobulin should be injected according to the condition of the patient as decided by the physician.
Rabies is an almost 100% fatal disease, so don’t be paralyzed. Dog bites need to be treated in a timely manner under a doctor’s supervision to avoid delays.
