What is adenocarcinoma of the lung?

Adenocarcinoma of the lung, generally called lung adenocarcinoma, refers to a pathological type of lung cancer, which belongs to non-small cell lung cancer. Lung cancer is generally categorized into small-cell lung cancer and non-small-cell lung cancer, while lung adenocarcinoma is a type of non-small-cell lung cancer, in addition to squamous carcinoma and large-cell carcinoma among non-small-cell lung cancer. Most lung adenocarcinomas originate from the epithelium of bronchial mucosa, and a few of them originate from the mucous glands of the large bronchial tubes. Generally speaking, lung adenocarcinomas do not have obvious symptoms in the early stage, but may have symptoms such as coughing, hemoptysis, and respiratory difficulties in the late stage, so it is not easy to be detected in the early stage of the disease. Therefore, it is not easy to be detected in the early stage. The cause of lung adenocarcinoma is still unclear, and it may be related to smoking, chronic lung diseases, long-term exposure to radioactive substances, and so on. Its treatment is mainly based on surgical resection with chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapy, etc. The specific treatment plan should be decided according to the patient’s own condition, to maximize the control of the tumor and prolong the survival time of the patient.
