If gastroscopy cannot be done for cardia dystrophy, barium meal imaging can be performed first, and then gastroscopy can be performed after subsequent treatment.
Cardia is a dysfunction of the esophagus caused by neuromuscular dysfunction in the cardia of the esophagus, which in turn causes the lower esophageal sphincter to be flaccid, and food cannot be passed and retained, which in turn leads to decreased elasticity of the esophagus and slower peristalsis.
Common clinical manifestations include dysphagia, retrosternal pain, acid reflux and heartburn, weight loss, anemia, etc. The diagnosis can be made clearly by barium meal imaging, and the end of the esophagus will show a bird’s beak-like pattern under the imaging because of the narrowing.
If the diagnosis of pancreatic achalasia is confirmed, professional doctors should be consulted to find a reasonable treatment according to the severity, and endoscopic treatment or surgical intervention can be considered if the effect of drug treatment is not good.
