Is punctate calcification cancer?

Punctate calcification is the result of imaging examination, it may be left over after the healing of other diseases, or it may be caused by cancer, it cannot be said that punctate calcification is cancer. Punctate calcification suggests a high-density imaging change at the site of the lesion, which is usually the result of inflammation or other lesions at the site, and scar-like tissue left behind after healing of the disease, which is a case of increased density in the imaging. Calcified foci can also be caused by malignant tumors, mainly tumors that secrete substances containing calcium salts, leading to calcification of the surrounding tissue, but this change alone cannot be relied upon to determine whether or not it is cancer. It is not possible to determine whether a nodular calcification is cancerous or not. Doctors need to take into account the patient’s own symptoms, medical history, as well as laboratory tests and imaging tests to make a comprehensive judgment. If necessary, an excisional biopsy and pathologic examination can be performed to clarify its nature. If punctate calcification is found in the examination, it is recommended that the patient should go to a regular hospital to get a clear diagnosis and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
