Characteristics of back pain in coronary artery disease

Back pain in coronary artery disease is characterized by episodes of back pain, along with anterior heart pain accompanied by chest tightness, shortness of breath, panic, dizziness, weakness, sweating and other symptoms, and in severe cases patients may experience a feeling of near death. The nature of the pain is mostly dull or crushing, and some patients experience a pins-and-needles or knife-like sensation. The duration of pain varies, mostly from a few seconds to a few minutes, usually less than half an hour. Most of the patients have triggers before the pain, such as exertion, mood swings, satiety, cold stimulation, and the symptoms can be relieved after resting or taking medication. Patients are recommended to have coronary CT or coronary angiography for clear diagnosis and coronary intervention if necessary.
