Are coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction the same thing?

Coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction are not strictly speaking the same thing. Coronary artery disease is an atherosclerotic heart disease in which the coronary artery intima forms plaques of varying degrees due to lipid deposition, which can block blood vessels and cause ischemia or necrosis of myocardial cells distal to the blocked vessels, with clinical manifestations of angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. Myocardial infarction is a more serious type of coronary heart disease, with rapid onset and high mortality rate, especially anterior wall or extensive anterior wall myocardial infarction, which is easily combined with cardiac insufficiency, various arrhythmias, and even sudden death of patients, which is life-threatening. It is very important to achieve early diagnosis and early treatment of coronary heart disease.
