How to fix smelly ears

Foul-smelling ears should be treated according to the cause. Common causes include otitis media, cerumen impaction, and otitis externa. Choose different treatment programs according to different causes.
1. Otitis media: Avoid colds and water in the ear canal. Ear drops of phenol glycerin can be used before tympanic membrane perforation, and after tympanic membrane perforation, wash the ear with hydrogen peroxide solution, and then use antibiotics such as ofloxacin in an ear bath. Antibiotics such as erythromycin and cefuroxime sodium may be used for systemic medication; glucocorticoids such as dexamethasone may be added for a short period of time. Secretory otitis media may require surgical treatment such as tympanocentesis.
2. Cerumen impaction: remove the cerumen. If the cerumen is movable, soft, not highly adherent, and not completely blocking the external auditory canal, it can be removed directly; for those with poor mobility and hard cerumen, sodium bicarbonate solution or hydrogen peroxide solution is usually used first to soften the cerumen, and then rinsing of the external auditory canal is carried out or suctioning is done to remove the cerumen after it has been softened.
3. Otitis externa: remove secretions, flakes and crusts in the ear canal. Infrared rays, ultra-short wave and other physical therapy also have a certain therapeutic effect. Commonly used drugs include hydrogen peroxide solution to clean the ear canal; antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin; and glucocorticoids such as hydrocortisone. When severe necrotizing otitis externa is not cured, it can be treated with surgery.
There may be other reasons for smelly ears, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, to clarify the cause of the disease and then actively standardized treatment. The above drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid buying drugs on their own.
