Jin Gui Ren Qi Pill can be used for kidney yang qi deficiency syndrome. It has the efficacy and effect of tonifying the kidney and assisting yang. Jin Gui Kidney Qi Pill, also known as Cui’s Eight Flavors Pill, from “The Essentials of the Golden Chamber”, consists of Di Huang, Gui Zhi, Dioscorea, Poria, Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum, Fructus Pilosulae, Mudan Pi, Ze Xie Di, and it has the efficacy of transforming the kidney qi and tonifying yang in the kidneys. This formula can be used in treating deficiency of kidney yang qi with symptoms such as lumbago and tenderness of the feet, coldness below the lower half of the body, constriction in the abdomen, dysuria, or excessive urination, especially at night, impotence and premature ejaculation, pale and fat tongue, weak pulse and thinness at the ulnar region; as well as phlegm-drinking, edema, thirst-quenching, foot pain, and transudation of the cells (referring to impassability of urination during pregnancy), and so on. Note on use: If dry throat and mouth, red tongue with little moss, it is not suitable for those with deficiency of kidney yin and inflammation of deficiency fire. In addition, those with kidney yang deficiency but normal urination are pure deficiency with no evil and no stagnation of qi, so this formula should not be used.
