Does laser scar removal have side effects?

Generally speaking, any scar without obvious proliferation or severe contracture can be treated with laser. Laser scar removal is mainly through the micro-exfoliation (or grinding) of the epidermis and the stimulation of the growth of collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, to achieve the softening of the scar, improve the flatness, and redistribute the pigment and other effects. Atrophic scars, depressed scars and scars with uneven pigmentation, such as acne pits (acne scars) left after acne, incision scars after surgery, uneven scars after mild to moderate burns, or uneven color of implantation area and skin donor area, have better results after laser treatment. In addition, laser scar removal requires multiple treatments, and it is difficult to achieve final satisfactory results after only one or two treatments. Moreover, the treatment of scars often requires a combination of treatments in order to obtain the most ideal results. Redness, swelling and scabbing may occur after laser scar removal, which will take some time to recover.
