What to do if your child has a bad cough at night

Children coughing at night need to identify the cause, may be allergic cough, bronchopneumonia, cough variant asthma, etc., under the guidance of the doctor to carry out targeted treatment, such as drug therapy.
1. Allergic cough: the child may be stimulated by external allergens, thus causing cough (mostly long-term irritating dry cough), generally away from the allergens after the cough will improve. If the allergy is severe, consider using antihistamines such as loratadine syrup and cetirizine drops.
2. Bronchopneumonia: mainly caused by pathogen infection, often with fever, cough, shortness of breath and other symptoms. Consider amoxicillin and penicillin for Streptococcus pneumoniae; azithromycin for Mycoplasma pneumoniae; and cloxacillin and benzathine sodium for Staphylococcus aureus.
3. Cough variant asthma: the main manifestation of irritating dry cough, usually cough is more violent, night cough is its important feature; medication, including inhaled glucocorticoids, such as budesonide, etc., or β2 agonists, such as salbutamol sulfate aerosol.
The causes of cough in children are many, parents need to bring their children to the doctor in a timely manner, the doctor to give targeted treatment, parents should not blindly give their children medication.
