The fifth rib of the human body is generally located in the area under the nipple.
There are 12 pairs of ribs in the human body, one side is connected to the sternum and the other side is connected to the thoracic vertebrae, which are involved in the formation of the thorax. The ribs are symmetrical, 1~7 ribs are connected to the sternum through the costal cartilage, which is called true ribs; 8~12 ribs are not connected to the sternum, which is called false ribs.
If you feel down along the sternum, there is a part that slightly protrudes forward into an angle, which is called the sternal angle. The sternal angle is the part where the sternal body connects with the sternal stem, and is flat against the second costal cartilage, which is the sign of counting ribs. The fourth rib is usually at the level of the nipple and the fifth rib is located below the nipple.
If there is any significant discomfort at the fifth rib, it is necessary to go to the hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions.
