Can myopia be corrected in children?

If a child’s myopia is clearly true myopia after a standard dilated eye exam, parents must first understand that there is no evidence that there is any treatment for true myopia, that is, it cannot make the myopia fade and the vision return to normal again, but there can be some correction methods, such as glasses, which is one of the most common correction methods, to correct the vision to normal. Once myopia occurs, it does not stop, it basically grows every year, and generally does not gradually stop until the age of 18 or so, so the requirement for myopia control is also taken into account until the age of 18. Generally speaking, the more effective methods recommended to control the growth of myopia are keratoplasty, or OK lenses, as well as low-concentration atropine, refractive lenses, defocusing soft lenses, and defocusing frame glasses. Parents can choose one or more of these methods depending on their child’s age, the degree of myopia, and the degree of acceptance and family conditions.
