Grapes are benign and not cancerous, but some can develop into gestational trophoblastic tumors, which are cancerous.
Vitiligo is the formation of blisters of varying sizes, like grapes, from proliferating, interstitial edematous placental trophoblasts that are attached by their stalks. They are categorized as partial or complete gravidas. Most patients have a good prognosis after treatment such as evacuation of the uterus and prophylactic chemotherapy. However, patients with hyperemesis gravidarum must be followed up regularly for early detection and management of trophoblastic tumors.
A few patients may have secondary gestational trophoblastic tumors. In the case of erosive gravidarum, the degree of malignancy is lower and the prognosis is generally better than that of choriocarcinoma. In the case of choriocarcinoma, the degree of malignancy is extremely high, and metastasis is highly likely and extensive.
If the diagnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum is confirmed, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for diagnosis and treatment.
