How long does it take to recover from tonsillectomy surgery

Typically, after tonsil surgery, it takes about a month to fully return to normal.
The tonsils are important immune organs in the pharynx and grow symmetrically in the oropharynx. When surgical removal of the tonsils is required for various reasons, a localized wound is formed after tonsillectomy, and postoperative pain in the throat is evident and often worsens when swallowing. Therefore, ice packs can be applied to the neck to relieve pain after tonsillectomy.
In some patients, the sore throat can be relieved about 1 week after tonsillectomy, but it will not disappear completely. If the wound recovers well, the sore throat will gradually diminish.
After tonsillectomy, a white film will form on the local wound, and the shedding time is usually about 2 weeks. With the gradual shedding of the white film, the pharyngeal pain will be significantly reduced and the wound will gradually repair. When the white membrane is completely removed and the wound is fully repaired, the pharyngeal symptoms will be completely relieved, and the whole process will take about one month.
If the patient, during the healing period of the surgery, develops obvious uncomfortable symptoms, he should go to the hospital in time to avoid delaying his condition.
