How long does the anesthetic take to wear off

How long does anesthesia take to expire depends on how it is used, the specific dosage, the type of drug, etc. Usually, it can be awakened within one hour after the end of surgery. Anesthesia is divided into general anesthesia and local anesthesia according to the purpose of surgery, and general anesthesia includes inhalation anesthetics and intravenous anesthetics. For painless gastroscopy, painless colonoscopy, painless abortion surgery, etc., intravenous anesthetics are usually ineffective in 5-10 minutes after a single dose, and patients can gradually wake up. Inhaled anesthetic drugs, on the other hand, can be metabolized in about 10-30 minutes. Local anesthetics are divided into two categories of esters and amides, ester local anesthetics for procaine, the action time of about 1 hour or so. And amide local anesthetics lidocaine, fast-acting, safe, with an action time of about 45 minutes. Long-acting class of amide local anesthetics, such as ropivacaine, can be maintained for 5-6 hours before losing anesthetic effect. In addition, if the patient is obese, the metabolism may be slightly slower. The time to expiration of local anesthetic drugs varies from person to person, but generally anesthetic drugs do not affect the body and patients need not be overly concerned.
